Sky Bet, a UK betting site, has chosen to enter into a sponsorship agreement with The Football League. The deal recently signed will last for a period of five years and will allow for the league to be renamed as The Sky Bet Football League.
As the league has three separate divisions each will be named as Sky Bet League One, Sky Bet League Two and Sky Bet Championship. On top of the name rights Sky Bet will be able to integrate the league into its online business. This includes taking bets on goal scorers, game predictions and others. They will have rights to exclusive promos such as awarding free tickets to matches.
Richard Flint, who is the Director at Sky Bet stated “The sponsoring of this league will help Sky Bet reach millions of fans that covers all of the different leagues. This deal was most important to us in order for us as a company to show our support and dedication to the game of football. The Chairman of the league, Greg Clarke added “This long term agreement with Sky Bet takes things to a different level that will be a real boost for the clubs who are part of the league”
